Hotmail, the popular webmail application owned by Microsoft Corporation has been receiving a lot of complaints lately. Users griped on an unannounced removal of an often used feature of webmail, the “Attach Photo” plugin. This surprise move left many Hotmail users puzzled, some wasting hours trying to trace their steps backwards hoping to debug the issue on their own. The “Attach Photo” feature is a plugin that allows users to edit and create captions for pictures for inclusion into the email body. This nifty feature compresses the files after they are edited, allowing users to add more pictures. This function was used often by Hotmail account holders and they were exasperated when they found out that function that gave them a very easy way to customize their photo uploads was removed. [...]
The company Google has a world famous motto – “Do No Evil” for its functioning, that what Google claims but the Open Book Alliance (OBA) in the field of online book scanning does not agree to the Google’s word. The OBA which was founded by Internet Archive has raised a united voice for those who have the feeling that Google enjoys a special status in its settlement with the publishers of $125 million. The basic argument for the dispute is that where as Internet Archive the competitors of Google has to negotiate individually with the rights owners for individual contract, Google has the liberty to scan without paying; the payment is to be done as and when the author claims. The security vulnerabilities of Microsoft’s web browser, Internet Explorer, are well known. Much of the viruses and other malware in the internet exist because hackers already know too well how to exploit Internet Explorer’s weaknesses. Microsoft has not been sitting idly by however, and with the release of the latest version of its web browser, Internet Explorer 8, a lot of vulnerability issues have been resolved. Together with the latest version of IE, Microsoft maintains a schedule of releasing updates or patches to software. Patch Tuesday, as how the internet press calls it, occurs every second Tuesday of the month, and has been Microsoft’s way of pro-actively making users involved in maintaining the software in their computers [...]
A popular newsletter has revealed that any version of the operating system Microsoft Windows 7 can be installed by tweaking the installation disk. This will give users an opportunity to try before actual buying and upgrading to the edition that’s more expensive.
As per Woody Leonard contributing editor of Windows Secrets newsletter, if a small text file is deleted from installation DVD of Windows then the users are free to install any of the five different editions. Leonard brought out step by step procedure in the previous week that took the users through the process on release to manufacturing Windows 7. Microsoft has sent this final build of the operating system to computer makers and to be distributed among IT developers and professionals.
Leonard states that to allow installation of any of the five editions, a file of the name “El.cfg” is to be deleted from installation disk. Microsoft documentation shows that “El.cfg” is a setup file of Windows that specifies which edition and license is to be used in the installation. For the same purpose in earlier versions Windows used “PID.txt” file.

Windows 7 has been proven to work on older computers 2 or 3 generations away from contemporary models. Microsoft has apparently fixed what was wrong with Vista and gave us a new OS free from the bloat and objectionable pop-ups that was the hallmark of the Vista user experience. Microsoft even announced that Windows 7 will work on netbooks. This is significant knowing that beginning in 2008, more portable computers were sold compared to desktop units. [...]

About 38 percent were classified as conversational, and only 9 percent of all tweets were considered useful. Surprisingly, 4 percent of the sampled tweets were categorized as spam. [...]
