No free Windows 7 for tech-beta-testers

One of the biggest and most pleasant surprises for technical beta testers of Windows Vista was the free copy of Ultimate everyone received at the end of the programme.

The Windows 7 beta has already been heavily criticised by testers for being nothing more than a bug hunt and not a technical test programme at all. As a further disappointment to testers it’s being reported that there will be no free copy as a thank you this time.

There’s no official confirmation of this yet and I hope that Microsoft do acquiesce, there are only 5,000 testers after all who, and I know because I’m one of them and have seen all the feedback they’ve submitted through the programme, have all worked very hard to help make Windows 7 the best product it can be.
